Our Foundation
We are each other’s harvest. We are each other’s business. We are each other’s magnitude and bond.
-GWENDOLYN BROOKS

Where it Began
Everything needs a foundation and for Sowing Love, that is bell hooks. Her book, All About Love: New Visions is our seminal text. Without it, we would not exist and through it, we are deeply rooted, and guided with great clarity. bell gave all of us a tremendous gift by demonstrating that love is actionable, powerful, and revolutionary. The six core components of love outlined in All About Love: care, commitment, trust, knowledge, responsibility, and respect guide everything we do at Sowing Love. We are committed to embodying these values in our lives and supporting others in doing the same. We know that when care, commitment, trust, knowledge, responsibility, and respect are practiced with intentionality, integrity, and compassion, we are on a path to become our best selves and do our best work.
Our Values
Care
We prioritize the well-being of self and the collective knowing that looking after and providing for the needs of each other is necessary for collective freedom.
Commitment
We are dedicated to embodying love with consistency regardless of circumstance.
Trust
We lead with relationship to build confidence in the ability of love to positively transform our world and ourselves.
Respect
We feel a deep admiration for all living beings and encourage others to value the feelings, rights, and traditions of others, actively repair harm done to people and planet, and see the soul, body, and nature as our loving teachers.
Responsibility
We know we are each other’s harvest. If we want collective belonging and thriving, we must honor the truth that we are accountable to each other and are required to grow, remain curious, and be present for each other.
Knowledge
We believe that everyone is a wise being and our communities are better when every person is able to freely participate in building understanding and sharing their wisdom with others.
